Course Description

The student will describe the various systems components and their uses. He or she will explain the function of flow controls, defrost systems, receivers, water and electric valves, and related controls and will apply this information to analyze and service commercial refrigeration systems which include food lockers and over-the-road equipment. This will include complete installation procedures and insulation of fixtures. Basic tools are recommended.

Prerequisites

AIRC 1014 - Must be completed prior to taking this course.

Course Outcomes

At the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Test evaporator function
  2. Evaluate evaporator operation and load
  3. Test multiple evaporator circuit with either EPR’s, independent TXV’s, etc.
  4. Evaluate various compressors and compressor performance
  5. Evaluate various compressors and compressor performance
  6. Change and/or adjust a TXV valve
  7. Evaluate and troubleshoot mechanical operation
  8. Properly braze and/or solder joints
