The student will demonstrate a knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures. He or she will be able to maintain basic accounting records for a small business operation. Emphasis will be on service-oriented businesses. (This course will not count toward the accounting requirements of a transfer program or of the Accounting occupational program. Accounting majors should enroll in ACCT 1514.)

Attendance & Participation (10%) Attendance and active participation are essential. Students are expected to be present and engaged in class
discussions and activities.
Discussions (20%) Both online discussion posts (via Canvas) and in-class discussions will be evaluated based on thoughtfulness, consistency, and
engagement with course material.
Assignments (20%) Assignments submitted through Canvas will assess the understanding of course concepts
Midterm Exam (25%) Covers the first half of the course.
Final Exam (25%) Covers the second half of the course.
