BIOL 1564 Intro to Anatomy & Physiology Syllabus 810 Fall 2026

Participation: Attending class and being an active participant are crucial to your success in this course. If you miss class, you will not only be at a severe disadvantage, but you will also miss any in-class assignments or quizzes for that day.

Make-up policy:

Labs

Attendance in the lab is mandatory. Unexcused late lab reports will have two points automatically deducted and must be turned in within one calendar week of the assigned due date. Late lab reports will not be accepted after that point. Lab reports will be due at the beginning of your next lab session.

You MAY NOT turn in a lab assignment for a lab you did not attend and therefore will not get points for that lab report. However, your two (2) lowest lab report grades of the semester will be dropped. If you know in advance that you are going to miss a lab, contact me and you may be able to go to another lab section that week, although that is not guaranteed. There is no make-up lab final.

Lecture Tests

If you arrive late for a test, the test time will not be extended to accommodate you. If you miss a lecture test, you will have five school days to take the make-up test and must schedule a time with me to take the test. Make-up lecture tests will include short answer and fill-in-the-blank questions. If you know ahead of time that you will be missing on an exam day then you may take the regular test early. All finals must be taken at the assigned time.

Academic Dishonesty: You are responsible for understanding what is listed in the student code of conduct as examples of academic dishonesty, such as cheating, plagiarism and facilitating academic dishonesty (http://www.kcc.edu/students/academics/Pages/codeofconduct.aspx). For any assignment, activity, lab report, or exam in which you violate the student code of conduct you will receive zero points and may face disciplinary action.

Laboratory Safety

Attendance at the first laboratory meeting is required. A student may not participate in lab if he/she has missed the first lab meeting, which includes the mandatory lab safety training. If a student misses the first lab meeting, he/she must notify the instructor to make arrangements to make up the safety training before the second lab meeting.

Students are expected to always comply with the KCC Science Laboratory Safety Rules. These rules will be discussed during the first lab meeting and each student will sign an acknowledgement of receipt and understanding. Students who do not comply with the safety rules will be asked to leave the lab and will receive no credit for that day’s work.

Student Supports

The KCC Food Pantry is available to all students regardless of financial need. It offers students non-perishable foods, snacks, personal hygiene products and frozen lunches. Hours will vary by semester; email foodpantry@kcc.edu for more information or to volunteer.
