XRAY 1033 Radiographic Anatomy & Positioning I Syllabus H01 Fall 2026

1. Cheating:
   *Cheating will not be tolerated. Some examples of cheating are: Using a calculator, notes, or other materials during an exam unless otherwise specified, copying another student's work, or copying material from books or other sources without acknowledging it, sharing or discussing questions or answers with other students regarding exam content, etc. Quizlet is another form of cheating. Taking questions from a review, quiz, or exam and entering them into Quizlet, is in fact plagiarism. This list is not all encompassing. If you are unsure whether something could be considered cheating, faculty suggest you communicate with them regarding the concern.
2. Class Attendance Requirement - Regular attendance at all scheduled class sessions is expected. It is the student's responsibility to notify the instructor if and why the absence is unavoidable to be considered an excused absence. Permission to make up work missed because of absence may be granted at the instructor’s discretion and must be completed within one week from the day missed. If the absence is unexcused, and/or the make-up work is not completed within one week, the student will receive zeros for all work missed.
   The instructor has the right to record the grade of F for the course or reduce the student’s grade if a student has excessive absences as defined in the instructor’s syllabus.

Excessive absence for XRAY-1033 is defined as more than THREE missed class sessions; a grade reduction of FIVE PERCENTAGE (5%) points will be recorded for each class session missed starting with the FOURTH scheduled class session. Refer to the CODE OF CAMPUS AFFAIRS AND REGULATIONS SECTION 3.0 ATTENDANCE AND CAMPUS BEHAVIOR.

For each unexcused absence (defined as no notification before the class session and/or personal time off) there will be a deduction of FIVE PERCENTAGE (5%) points from the student’s total accumulation of points.

Tardiness- Prompt attendance at class sessions is mandatory. TWO tardies constitute one absence. A late arrival or early departure of ten minutes or more is considered an absence.  Arriving late is a disruption to your fellow students and instructor. 

The door to the radiography classroom will be locked at the beginning of class. If a student arrives more than 10 minutes late, the student will be allowed into the classroom at the professor’s discretion. If the student is not allowed into the classroom for this reason, an absence will be recorded for that class session.

Students arriving late because of being at their clinical education center performing radiographic procedures WITH prior notification to the professor will be exempted from the above policy.

3. Make-up Tests and Late Assignments - Permission to make up late assignments because of absence may be granted at the instructor’s discretion and must be completed by the date set by the instructor.
   An automatic deduction of 5 points will be taken off on ALL make up assignments. If the absence is unexcused and/or the make-up work is not completed within one week, the student will receive a zero for all work missed.

Canvas Quizzes / Tests are to be completed by the date due. Any Canvas quizzes / tests not completed in the expected timeframe will be assigned a ZERO for a grade. Canvas quizzes / tests will not be reopened for completion except for extenuating circumstances and as deemed appropriate by the instructor (Ex. Canvas downtime, power outages, hospitalization with a doctor’s excuse, etc.).

4. Assignments, Quizzes, and Exams - The student must complete all assignments, quizzes, and exams in order to receive a grade for that particular assignment. Online assignments, including quizzes, exams, and journals must be completed by the due date. In the event that it is not completed, a zero (0) will be recorded for the grade. On-line assignments will not be reopened to be completed for partial credit. If a student has connectivity issues with the exams more than once, the student MUST take exams on campus.
5. Discussion - Students are encouraged to actively participate in classroom demonstrations and discussions
   Excellent preparation / performance / participation in activities and discussions = +3% points on final grade
   Average preparation / performance / participation in activities and discussions = 0% points on final grade
   Below average preparation / performance / participation in activities and discussions = -3% points on final grade

Electronic Communication

To ensure a student's privacy under all applicable education laws and to facilitate timely interactions, two College-authorized methods of electronic communication exist: KCC-issued student email accounts (using the domain name of student.kcc.edu) and the Canvas Learning Management System. Students are expected to regularly check their KCC email accounts and Canvas for important incoming communication from the college or from individual instructors. Students understand that emails they send from personal email accounts (other than those listed above) may not be delivered to the KCC recipient, and students should have no expectation that such messages will be answered.
