At the end of the semester, point totals are converted to percentages.  The following are minimum point conversions for letter grades.

Clinical Requirements / Performance Clinical Attendance 
Students are expected to attend all clinical days. All clinical absences must be made up. It is the student’s responsibility to contact alternate clinical instructors to schedule makeup days. Makeup clinical days should be scheduled as soon as possible, when days are available.
Student physicals must be completed and approved by Mrs. Davis prior to the beginning of the semester. All sections of the KCC Physical Exam form must be completed and approved prior to participating in any nursing lab activity, return skills demonstration, or attending clinical. In addition, students with incomplete physical forms may not be a client for other students for practice or return demonstrations. Physical exam forms are to be turned into the Health Careers division office. The student is expected to attend all classes, even if restricted from the nursing lab.
Students will not be allowed to attend clinical until all pre-clinical requirements are met: completed physical exam forms (including immunizations and lab tests).

Return Demonstrations 
During the semester, professors will demonstrate a number of basic nursing skills during class and or shown by video in Evolve or Canvas. 
Each student will be required to show competency in these skills by performing the skill satisfactorily for a professor in the nursing lab by the assigned due dates. These return demonstrations are graded as pass/fail. A description of the skills, as well as the time necessary to return the demonstration, can be found in Berman “Skills In Clinical Nursing”. It is the student’s responsibility to sign up on the appropriate google Sheets document. Students can only sign up for a maximum of “3” 15 minute time slots per day. If a skill is failed it cannot be repeated on the same day, instead, it must be scheduled for a different day. Students will only be allowed to schedule time in the nursing lab for return demonstrations during his/her free time—not during class time. Students must either keep the scheduled demonstration time or call the Health Careers division office at 815-802-8800 to cancel the time prior to the scheduled time. You must bring your KCC’s Skills Book and nursing equipment pack to each return demonstration. Students must sign up for demo time in “Google Sheets.” See instruction sheet for details. Students should only sign up for the semester in which they are enrolled and only with the assigned clinical instructor or designee. You can only reserve 3 time slots in 1 day. You may not remove another student’s name. This sign up process will be monitored, and violations may result in disciplinary action."Remember that completing demos is your responsibility. Failure to complete the assigned demos by the due date can result in failure of the course. If you need to remove your name on the day of your demo, please email that instructor with greater than 2 hours' notice. Any cancellation within the 2-hour time frame will be considered a late cancellation. Demo time is valuable time. All instructor demo time will be available in the Google Sheets. There will be no additional demo time added. Should a student fail to complete demos by the due date, they may not contact an instructor for additional time. If a student does not show up to their scheduled demo time or does not cancel the scheduled time at least 2 hours ahead of time, it will be considered a no-call, no-show, which will result in a verbal warning at the first occurrence. The second occurrence will result in a write-up on professionalism, which will be placed in the student's file. At the third occurrence, the student will receive an "incomplete" for the final course grade until all demos are completed." All required return demonstrations must be successfully completed by the assigned due dates. Failure to successfully complete the required return demonstrations by the assigned due dates will result in a failing grade for the course. The required return demonstrations for this course and assigned due dates are as follows:

Due by Friday October 9, 2026

• Adult Head-to-toe physical assessment (30 minutes) you will need a partner from class
• Administering a tube feeding/meds via NGtube- (30minutes)
• Administering Medication by suppository (pharm demo pair with NG)
• Hand washing/Vital signs (15 minutes)
• Administering Oral meds (15 minutes) Pharm demo
• Administering Sub-q injection using a vial (15 minutes) Pharm demo

Due by Friday November 13th, 2026

• Female Cath (15 minutes)
• Changing/Emptying an ostomy bag (15minutes)
• Wound Assessment/Dressing Principles (15 minutes)
• Performing an intradermal (15minutes) Pharm demo
• Administering an IM using an Ampule (15 minutes) Pharm demo

Course Requirements PNUR 1138 

1. Meet all Essential clinical functions. 
2. Complete all laboratory demonstrations by Friday, November 13, 2026. Failure to complete the laboratory demonstrations will result in a failing grade for the semester. 
3. The student’s overall test average needs to be at or above 78% to pass the course. This grade will not be rounded up. 
4. The overall average must be 80% or higher after the final exam to pass the course. A grade between 79.5 and 79.9 will not be rounded up to achieve a passing grade. 
5. Attend all scheduled clinical days. All clinical absences must be made up The criteria listed above must be met in order to be successful in PNUR 1138. No incomplete grade will be given in this class or any PNUR course. However, extenuating circumstances will be considered and exceptions may be made at the discretion of the professors.
