This course is designed to be an introduction to skills required in the prevention and treatment of athletic injuries. Although the course is a requirement for Athletic Training majors, it is also available to others interested in coaching or teaching. They may find themselves in a professional situation where they are expected to care for injuries. Therefore, the main objective of the course is that a student will be comfortable in their ability to recognize and properly treat athletic injuries.

Course Information
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Have a basic understanding of the athletic training profession
- Know basic anatomy
- Recognize athletic related injuries and the mechanism, prevention and treatment of these types of injuries.

Grading scale:
100%-90% A, 89%-80% B, 79%-70% C, 69%-60% D, 59% and below F

NO CELL PHONES ALLOWED!! If a student is caught on his/her phone he/she will be asked to leave class and he/she will lose attendance and activity points for that day. If the student is caught twice with their cell phone, he/she will lose 10% of their total grade. Anything after 2 offenses student and professor will meet for a meeting and he/she will ultimately be asked to withdraw from the course.
Attendance is mandatory. Emergency situations will be taken into consideration on an individual basis. We meet on Monday and Wednesday every week from 11am to 1215pm.
Please come prepared for class. Have all course materials and supplies. Participate as you feel comfortable. Arrive on time, silence your phones and be respectful.
