The student will learn common installation practices for industrial and commercial electrical circuits, including how and when to use the appropriate tools and materials. Students will wire both industrial power circuits and control circuits following blueprints and electrical schematics. Using tools safely and with the proper body mechanics will be a focus of the course.

Course Information
At the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Describe and use common material for electrical installations
- Install electrical conduit
- Size, run and install electrical wire for specific applications
- Wire an industrial electrical control circuit
- Wire an industrial power circuit that controlled by an industrial control circuit
- Properly mount and secure an electrical control box
- Read and interpret industrial electrical prints
- Use of all tools safety and effectively

Tools that are used in Motor Control will be required in this class.

The final grade will be determined using the following percentage of accumulated points:
93 - 100 A
85 – 92.49
B 78 – 84.49

Points will be deducted for late attendance and missed classes.

ATTENDANCE:
Regular attendance at all scheduled class sessions is expected.
If a student has missed more class hours than the number of credit hours to be earned in the class, the instructor may record the grade of “F” for the course. Failure of the student to attend class does not constitute withdrawal. The student must make a formal written withdrawal through the Office of Admissions and Records.
If a student shows up late for a class, they will receive 2% points off their total grade. If a student misses a class for any reason, they will receive 4% points off their total grade. Those points can be made up if there is space in another class and a project that needs to be completed. The decision will be left up to the discretion of the instructor.
CLOTHING:
This is a class introducing some of the skills needed in the use of basic tools common to the electrical industries. As such you will come prepared for every session expecting lab time. You will be required to have safety glasses/goggles, hardhat, long pants (preferred), shoes (preferable boots) no sandals, flip flops, etc. Failure to do so will mean you will be excused from lab for that session. If you are excused from lab “for cause”, including but not limited to, failure to wear appropriate clothing and/or PPE, horse play, abuse or misuse of tools & equipment, or any “non-class” related incidents deemed dangerous or in appropriate by the instructor, you will not be permitted to make up any assignments for that lab/class session. If the instructor has to ask more the one time to wear PPE you do bring to class, it may result in you being asking to leave as well.
